Multilingualism and Education / MOTION: Master of Multilingual Educational Linguistics

The following special admission requirements apply to the Master’s program “Multilingualism and Education / MOTION: Multilingual Educational Linguistics”:

a) A first professionally qualifying university degree from the University of Hamburg in one of the following courses of study or in a comparable course of study at another university:

• Bachelor's degree in Educational Science (major or minor)

or

• Teacher training program (B.Ed./BA/B.Sc./State Examination)

or

• A bachelor's degree program in modern philology with a linguistic specialization comprising at least 30 credit points or equivalent knowledge.
• This means at least 30 credit points in core linguistics (phonetics/phonology; morphology; syntax; semantics; pragmatics) as well as designated linguistic subdisciplines, which must be documented by a transcript of records from the bachelor's degree certificate.

If the title of one or more modules does not clearly indicate the above-mentioned subject areas, the applicant must submit an official module description for all affected modules with their application documents, clearly stating the nature and scope of the content taught in the aforementioned subject areas. If no module descriptions are submitted, the decision will be made based on the module titles as stated in the transcript of records.

b) English language skills sufficient to understand and use specialist literature and successfully attend English-language courses. This knowledge, equivalent to five years of schooling, must be demonstrated by a school certificate or equivalent certificates (B2 level).

All application documents must be submitted by the application deadline. Documents submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
