Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry
Bachelor grade 2.8 or better
Ideally, you have completed a bachelor's degree that combines chemistry and biology as you will need a good background in both for our master.
Sufficient knowledge of English: mother tongue English, proof of English language skills comparable to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR or GER)
[Admission](https://uni-tuebingen.de/fakultaeten/mathematisch-naturwi...) will be granted based mainly on bachelor grades, supplemented by extracurricular merits and a written examination taking place in Tübingen. Due to legal restrictions, the exam cannot be offered online or at other locations!
Selection Criteria: -
If you are in the last semester of your bachelor's degree, you may apply with an English or German record of all courses taken including grades received up to that point and the preliminary average grade (e.g. a transcript with the preliminary average grade). For the application only the average grade submitted before the application deadline can be taken into account, i.e. we cannot adjust it afterwards as you complete more courses.
We announce the exam dates at least 4 weeks in advance. If you cannot make it, you have several options:
1. apply without the exam and rely only on your bachelor grade
2. take the exam early, for example, sit the exam for the fall term, but apply for the later summer term
3. defer your application for 1 semester; we admit both in fall and summer.
Our master is research and lab oriented. We start at an advanced skill level. Make sure your past practical training and research experience is well explained in the transcript and the form about practical training (see [admission page](https://uni-tuebingen.de/fakultaeten/mathematisch-naturwi...)). It should include how many months you worked in a lab, which techniques you used regularly, and whether you performed the techniques yourself.
What to prepare for your application to Biochemistry
Bachelor certificate including your final or preliminary grade and your class rank (We cannot accept transcripts without an average grade or cGPA.)

For documentation not in English or German, we require an official English translation along with a copy of the original document.
If you are in the last semester of your bachelor degree, you may apply with an English or German record of all the grades received up to that point including their average.
