What to prepare for your application to Economics and Management Science (MEMS)
List of documents required for application:
Degree certificate and transcript of records: should be submitted in either English or German, issued by your previous university and, where applicable, with a certified translation of the original.
For the application purposes, the upload of a scanned version is sufficient. Should you get accepted to the MEMS program, you should bring the original documents to the enrollment office in September for verification. Please do not send the originals via post.
If your degree certificate is not available at the time of application, you may only hand in the transcripts. It should be evident on the transcript that you will be able to graduate from your previous program until October.
GRE revised general test: all applicants are required to take the GRE test - the GMAT is not a substitute. The score must not be older than five years before the application deadline. Scanned copies of the GRE report or the "Examinee Score Report" (pdf version downloadable at the ETS webpage) are acceptable upon the application deadline. Should you receive an official acceptance, you will still need to submit the original score reports.
Two letters of recommendation: once you are registered in the online system and the respective sections are completed, you will receive a special form, via email, that should be passed on to your recommenders.
Recommendation letters are expected to be written by professors from your previous university. Only for exceptional cases, we may accept recommendation letters from employers.
The letters should be sent directly by the professor to the MEMS Office - they are confidential and the applicant is not allowed to read them. If the professors send them via e-mail, they are prompted to use their official email address. If they send the letters via post, they should use a signed and sealed envelope.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your letters of recommendation are submitted on time. Once you submitted your application, you will be able to see whether we received the letters.
Curriculum Vitae: should provide an overview of your experience and other qualifications.
Motivation letter: should indicate your intentions and specific reasons for your interest in the MEMS Program. It should be written in English or in German.
English language test: all applicants must provide proof that their English is at a C1-level (see language requirements) or higher. The score must not be older than two years before the application deadline.
APS: students that received their undergraduate degree from P.R. China or Vietnam and want to apply for the MEMS Program need to obtain an APS Certificate.
This programme applies directly or via uni-assist. Submit your documents through the correct channel before the deadline.
