Bachelor's degree should come from a discipline that is relevant to the cognitive sciences, such as cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or cognitive science; also, informatics, medicine or human biology with strong cognitive focus, or philosophy .
Your interest in mathematical and scientific contexts as well as your curiosity to explore the neuronal basis of human behavior provide a good basis for starting the master's program. On the other hand, a strong interest in clinical psychology, as well as in mental illnesses and their therapy, is a contraindication - these topics play no role in the degree program.
In general, the prerequisite for a Master's degree at the University of Potsdam is a first academic degree that qualifies you for a profession, e.g. a Bachelor's degree. You should have obtained your first degree in a subject relevant to the course, for example in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, linguistics or computer science. In addition, you must have sufficient basic knowledge in the areas of "Experimental Psychological Training", "Foundations of Mathematics" and "Programming of Experiments" to the extent of 6 credit points each in the sense of the bridging modules.
Applicants who cannot demonstrate sufficient knowledge in either the areas of "Experimental Psychological Training", "Foundations of Mathematics" or "Programming of Experiments" will be required to complete the missing knowledge in the corresponding bridging module as part of the Master's degree program. If knowledge is lacking in more than one of the above areas, no admission will be granted.
You should demonstrate your strong interest in cognitive science, which is clearly evident in your previous studies and other activities, in a written, [subject-specific test](https://www.uni-potsdam.de/de/pecog/obligatorischer-test-fuer-das-masterprogramm-cognitive-science) in English , in which you will be asked about relevant modules (cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, mathematics and computer science) as well as other relevant qualifications (research internships, programming skills, conference contributions, etc.). All of this prior knowledge is relevant for admission.
