How to apply
What you need to apply for Master of Arts in International Economics and Public Policy (MA IEPP) at University of Trier
Applicants must prove their language proficiency in English (level C1, based on the Common European Framework) by one of the following tests, undertaken within the past three years:
TOEFL (Code 9208): a minimum of (at least) 215 points (computer based) or 550 points (paper based) or 80 points (internet based)
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
IELTS (a minimum of 6.0 points)
UNIcert III
Equivalent to one of the tests is proof of:
Native speaker
Two years of full time study in an English taught course, in an English speaking country and undertaken within the past two years
At least 5 school years of English in secondary education and at least 5 points in English at "Abitur" level (only Germany and Luxembourg)
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Political Science, Social Sciences or Economics (with a GPA of at least 2,7 according to the German grading system)
applicants for the MA IEPP must have at least 30 ECTS
credits or equivalent in Political Science AND 30 ECTS credits or equivalent in Economics.
There is no general formula for converting foreign credits into ECTS in an exact way,
because very different systems are in use throughout the world.
However, a rough approximation is possible. As explained above, 30 ECTS credits represent
one semester or half a year of studies. So ask yourself: Did you dedicate, in sum, a full
semester (or 1/6 of all your courses) to Economics AND another full semester (or 1/6 of all
your courses) to Political Science? If the answer is “no”, then please refrain from
application!
